Talking about “The Shallows” today in class showed me how different objects can be seen as a medium for communication. For example, the technology we use everyday such as computers or smartphones, are ways for consumers to absorb information brought by other people. The book talked about how these “Mediums” are the means of conveying information because it allows users to see the message being put out. In class, we also talked about memorization and how important it is when dealing with knowledge pertaining to a particular subject, like history. For example, college professors are in a position of superiority over their class due to the fact that they are masters of the topic, and have memorized more facts than the average person. This can impact the credibility of the person who is feeding you information.
